Human Factors (Interaction Designer)

Job Description:
With minimal guidance, provide Human Computer Interface (HCI) support for Baxter medical device development. Interact with product stakeholders (customers, marketing, engineering) to develop appropriate UI solutions. The work will include device project team participation relative to instrumentation and disposable device products. Applying skills in creating user profiles, personas, use cases, work flows, conducting usability tests and authoring detailed design specifications with screen mock-ups will be key to this position. In addition this position will be designing user interaction prototypes for user testing and proof of concept purposes. This position will also be working closely with Industrial Design, Engineering, Software, Clinical and R&D Prototyping functions on key device programs.

Job Requirements:
M.A. Human Factors Engineering with 2-4 years of related experience, or B.A. Human Factors Engineering with 5-8 years of related experience. Must have a working knowledge and demonstrated experience of HFE / HCI principles, eye for aesthetics, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must have abilities with tools such as Photoshop, Visio, FLASH or equivalent UI tools. A portfolio of work examples is required. A self-starter with proven experience in team dynamics including effective establishment of product UI requirements and specifications is required. Experience and/or working knowledge of mechanical, software, electrical and medical devices is a plus.
